I recently learned about the software called Indesign where I created a magazine cover. In class, I learned about the different magazine conventions and what makes them appealing to audiences.
My magazine's genre is a travel and entertainment magazine. My magazine follows this genre because I titled my brand "Vacation" and including many things to do for entertainment such as "Swimming pigs" and "Exclusive events" to catch the audience's eye.
The cover image of my piece is a pig on the beach and the feature article is about a swimming pig excursion on the island. Along with this I filled the page with smaller cover lines talking about the other stuff happening in Nassau. This made it easy to recognize that this was a magazine about Nassau.
When I first opened the app, I thought that it would be easy to maneuver around, but as time went on I quickly realized that I needed to go back and watch the videos again. I did however find it easy to find what I was going to title my work and what pieces and shots I wanted to use.
My biggest take away is that next time I use Indesign or make another magazine cover, I will have to refer back to the videos explaining how to properly use the software.
This assignment will definitely help me with my portfolio project if I choose to do a magazine because I now know how to work the system and make a good magazine.
